The balancers mount between the dual wheels and continuously balance the complete rotating assembly—including the tires, wheels, hubs, and brake drums—while the vehicle is moving. One pair handles all four tires on a dual-wheel drive-axle assembly.

How Centramatic Balancers Work

The sealed outer ring contains hardened Durametal weights and proprietary synthetic dampening fluid. As the wheel rotates, this balancing media senses vibration and redistributes opposite the assembly’s heavy point.

This continuously helps balance the tires, wheels, hubs, and brake drums—even as tire wear or operating conditions change. Most Centramatic models begin working at approximately 20–22 mph.

Installation

The Centramatic 600-640 installs between the dual wheels on the drive axle. Remove the wheel, align the balancer with the wheel bolt holes, and reinstall the wheel using the vehicle and wheel manufacturer’s approved procedures and torque specifications.

Centramatic balancers cannot correct misalignment, improperly seated tire beads, out-of-round tires, or worn suspension components.
