FAQs
How long will this last? How durable is the poly material?
Answer: The ¼” thick UHMW poly material is quite strong and wear-resistant. The life of your poly cover is dependent on how it is used. Over-the-road customers report getting over 400,000 miles uses from their SlickPlate™ poly covers. Ag customers who drive in and out of fields and gravel roads, in harsh conditions, report getting 2-4 years of life from the covers depending on the extent of use.
Do you grease the cover?
Answer: No. The poly material is slick and needs no grease agent.
What do I do if grease transfers from the trailer to the poly cover?
Answer: We advise that you remove the grease at your earliest convenience because the grease will inherently attract dirt and particles that will over time mare the poly surface. Customers tell us Dawn dish soap works great!
Is there any maintenance to the poly cover?
Answer: We recommend periodically wiping it down to remove any dirt and grit that can rough the poly’s surface.
I know the make of my 5th wheel plate, but how do I find out what model it is?
Answer: The width and height measurements along with the plate shape/profiles will help you determine if we have a kit to match you model.
What are the ram bars made of?
Answer: The ram bars are made of steel and powdered coated to provide a smooth surface.
How do you attach the cover to the 5th wheel plate?
Answer: SlickPlate™ Poly Covers are fastened directly to your 5th wheel plate. The cover comes pre-drilled and acts as the template for marking your plate for drilling.
Will drilling into the 5th wheel plate harm it?
Answer: No
Can I use the SlickPlate™ with another slide on my trailer?
Answer: No, the combination of both could cause problems with proper attaching of your 5th wheel pin.
